The lead up to Matariki 2026 has been a time of reflection and a focus on what comes next for our team at Tokona te Raki. After almost a decade of tackling complex systemic problems across a myriad of kaupapa – identifying root causes, learning, adapting, and shifting hearts and minds to bring about change that sticks. This has never been easy mahi, but we have managed to continuously make small incremental shifts that make a difference. However, in our dynamically changing world, for our mahi to evolve, we need to shift our focus and practice – not because we must but because our mahi demands it – Ka huri te ao, ka huri te tikaka.
Change that sticks requires inclusion, innovation and investment – not as a framework, but as a practice. Our strength lies not in predicting the future but in building the capability to shape it together, to arrive differently and to bring as many people and communities on the journey. It’s about creating the conditions for people to feel genuinely part of shaping our collective future.
We are not starting from scratch. We are starting from close to a decade of understanding knowing what it takes. We are proud to share What Next – Ki Tua our journey as Tokona te Raki, our learnings, achievements and our thinking about what comes next.
